Aldi pea protein Sainsburys Shroomdog Cumberland are both okay.Fry well and make a passable sausage cob.Remember us oldies only had Sosmix for years as an alternative,so we are happy with something that is edible
I felt for you throughout the reading of this experiment (even though I love sausages and don't do meat substitutes -- I'm one of those if you can't afford properly reared, nose to tail meat instead of suspicious supermarket stuff just don't eat it people) because I'm remembering being the lifestyle journalist in my early 20's writing a comparison / rating piece on the best supermarket sushi out there... in the days before supermarkets started getting (relatively!) fresh sushi counters. I feel for you the way the Asda sushi pack will never leave my memory.
Looking forward to more of these -- loved the butter bean one and I've shared it A LOT!
I LOVE the Linda McCartney ones, the rosemary ones. They are so full of flavour and, as you say, comforting. I don't really buy sausages that much as many of them have this "skin" on them that feels like a plasticky "cover" and I really, really can't stand that. And when trying a new brand, there is no way to tell which ones will have that. I'm not sure if you know what I mean? :D but the Linda ones don't have that, so I keep coming back to those.
I know exactly what you mean! It’s horrible. The M&S ones had a really obvious ’skin’ which ended up crispy, not that I ate it but yes, generally it’s a grim addition.
I dont think its ciabatta, I thought it was but they called it something else. I just went and got some, it's on the fresh bread counter, it's £3.10, got the sausages too, roll on home time!!
I like the Linda McCartney ones: those rosemary sausages are remarkably low fat, which is a plus for me. Sainsbury’s Plant Pioneers do one, I think it’s Cumberland Shroomdog sausage but if they do more than one, our local only sells one version and I might have got the wrong one
Thank you for confirming This are the best. Even my 11 year old loves them, which makes me super happy as my kids aren’t veggie & are normally suspicious of anything vegan 😊
I have the exact same opinion on the sausages! Those are the only 2 I will eat, most evenings I try and avoid Waitrose so that I don't fall down the Huero trap. My favourite "treat" meal is those sausages and Waitrose olive bread, makes my life complete. Off to Waitrose now!

Just had to google Sosmix! It’s great there are so many options out there now ♥️

Supermarket sushi 😱😱😱. Completely agree about proper meat sausages!
It was a trauma I clearly did not get paid enough for if I still remember it almost a decade later...!
😂

I have to limit myself or I will have no money🥴
I need to find this bread

When I can face it I’ll try those options but I might be a while. I’m still traumatised 😂

Sorry gatecrashing, is that the Waitrose olive ciabatta? That's god-tier bread I bulk buy whenever I go in there and fill the freezer!
Glad we agree! I need to try that bread!
Well it’s made me want to try the chorizo ones - the divorce sausages - immediately. Anything worth threatening divorce over must be brilliant!!! 🤣
😂 Just don’t spend £7.50 on them!
I'm hungry now ❤️ would love to pair those sausages with this https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9kXmEqO3Kd/?igsh=c2NkaHR4cXBrZHI2
